What wood are sauna kits made of: cedar, hemlock or spruce?
Thermally modified or heat-treated wood is named most often. Counting each wood the makers of 30 kits here name: thermally modified or heat-treated wood (15), hemlock (8), spruce (7), cedar (6), pine (2), linden (2), aspen (1). A kit can name more than one, for example one wood for the walls and another for the benches.
Filter by maker, then read the product pages, where the stated wood is cited to the maker's own spec sheet. Decide what you care about before you compare, whether that is the look, the smell or the price on the maker's site, because the list will not rank the species for you. The linked wood guide covers each species.
Picks by the numbers
Each pick is the product that comes first on one figure its maker publishes, with the next ones on that figure after it. Choosing which figures to rank by is our editorial choice; the order on each is the makers' own numbers. None is a judgement of quality, we have not tested these products, and whether we earn a commission on a product never decides a pick.

Prices are the price each maker's own site showed in US dollars on the date shown; the seller's page has the current price. Warranties and safety listings are the makers' own statements, cited on each product page. A price starting 'From' is the cheapest configuration a maker offers, which may leave out the heater or options. Every product here is sold by its maker on the maker's own site. Where a product page carries a paid link (to Amazon or another approved retailer), Saunakivi may earn a commission; no sort order or filter favours those products. We have not tested these products.
